Here's this week's Shout Out Patriots Show: In the age of censorship, it takes faith to make a faith-based film.
In the second part of our interview with Christian filmmaker Jason Campbell, we learn the challenges of getting faith-based movies into homes for families to watch.
Jason is the founder of JC Films, which has released more than 40 family-friendly films that have starred well-known actors such as Dean Cain and Kevin Sorbo.
But the growing problem of social media and online streaming censorship is causing issues for the Christian film industry.
Jason relates how his colleague, who he describes as "a great Christian filmmaker," had his content taken down by YouTube.
"A Christian filmmaker can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to create this new YouTube impression, and then you're done when they cut you off," Jason told Shout Out Patriots.
"The big thing is the distribution problem that we're having with Christian content. If filmmakers don't start getting together figuring out how to solve this, we're not going to have the funding to continue making films," he said.
"At the beginning, we were going through Hollywood for equipment and getting on distribution channels and different platforms, like Amazon. And we were losing money. People were stealing from us, and it just wasn't working.
"Now, we can't work through Hollywood anymore.
"So I said, Lord, tell me what to do. The Lord said to buy everything, own everything, and get the latest camera equipment. Just go out there and get it and then take away all your films from Hollywood. Own them directly."
Jason also told Shout Out Patriots about upcoming film awards (think Oscars) for Christian films, actors and actresses, and producers.
He even took time to shop talk, like explaining the challenges of plotting film locations.
The ever-presence of barking dogs, traffic, loud lawnmowers, and noisy neighbors means "shooting on location is very difficult. It's got its challenges," Jason discloses.
