Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

I had a busy few days at home in Arizona and traveling to Florida to visit NASA as part of my role as Co-Chair of the Congressional Women in STEM Caucus. Then, I returned to Washington, D.C. for votes and President Biden's State of the Union address.

Lesko's Statement on President Biden's State of the Union Address

"The State of the Union is in Crisis. Gasoline, grocery, and energy prices are soaring, crime has risen through the roof, the southern border is wide open, fentanyl is killing our kids, and war has broken out in Ukraine. President Biden is going to have to do more than offer empty rhetoric. It is time for him to abandon his far left agenda and work with Republicans for the sake of our nation and our allies around the world."

Lesko Talks About the REAL State of the Union

The State of Our Union is in Crisis under President Biden.

I joined Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-CA-23), Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA-01), Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21), and my other House Republican colleagues for a press conference on the State of the Union address. Watch my full remarks below:

Lesko Visits UPS and Tours Arizona Colleges

While in Arizona, I had a lot of fun going on a ride-along with UPS where I delivered packages on a delivery route. I also enjoyed speaking with UPS drivers and learning about their operations in our district. I am grateful for all of their hard work to ensure our community receives their packages!

Lesko Visits Kennedy Space Center in Florida

Last week, I visited Kennedy Space Center in Florida to learn more about NASA’s Artemis Mission. I enjoyed speaking to Artemis Suppliers and celebrating their hard work to get America back to the moon! Suppliers from all 50 states, including Arizona, have contributed to this mission.

On the trip, I had the opportunity to see the SLS Rocket and Orion Capsule that will be used to explore more of space than ever before during the Artemis Missions!

As the Co-Chair of the Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Caucus, I was honored to participate in a roundtable discussion with Lockheed Martin, Aerojet Rocketdyne, Northrop Grumman, Jacobs, Boeing, NASA, and other Artemis suppliers about the importance of women in STEM and taking women to the moon.

Lesko Joins Effort to Prohibit Taxpayer Dollars from Going to Legal Services for Illegal Immigrants

Image

I joined Congresswoman Lauren Boebert’s (R-CO-03) No Taxpayer Funds for Illegal Immigrants Act to prevent federally funded legal aid from going to illegal immigrants. Taxpayers should NOT foot the bill for those who break our laws and illegally cross our southern border!

Lesko Stands Up for Independent Contractors

Image

The Biden Administration wants to change the way independent contractors are classified under the National Labor Relations Act, once again circumventing Congress! I joined an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court with Congressman Jim Banks (R-IN-03), Congressman Rick Allen (R-GA-12), and Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC-05) to DEFEND their rights!

GET THE FACTS: Energy Security is National Security

President Joe Biden has undermined American energy independence since his first day in office. American energy independence is crucial for national security and global stability. President Biden’s approval of Vladimir Putin’s Nord Stream 2 Pipeline led to the United States and our European allies becoming more dependent on cheap Russian oil. President Biden also chose to shut down the Keystone XL Pipeline and ban oil and gas leasing on federal land. These actions also led to Americans paying significantly more at the pump. Last year, gas in Arizona was at approximately $2.68 per gallon. Currently, Arizona is inches away from hitting $4 per gallon. The solution is simple: we must produce more American energy. For our nation to achieve energy independence and dominance, President Biden must impose sanctions on Russian oil and gas, lift restrictions on American oil and gas, reopen the Keystone XL Pipeline, and end the ban on new oil and gas production on federal land. America has the resources to be energy independent. We must utilize those resources now. Energy independence is key to national security.

Encouraging Story
