Equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community is non-negotiable, full stop.
Right now, Republican politicians in Texas and Florida are advancing policies specifically intended to cause hurt and harm to LGBTQ+ folx.
These attacks on the liberties of people who ask only to be received as their full, authentic selves are unconscionable, and we must ensure that our LGBTQ+ communities everywhere have access to the resources and supports they need in this moment and beyond.
In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has ordered Child and Protective services to investigate and charge parents of transgender children with “child abuse.”
In Florida, it is heavily expected that Republican Governor Ron DeStantis will pass the “Don’t Say Gay” bill – which will ban any discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in primary schools.
We must celebrate the humanity and the contributions of members of the LGBTQ+ community; we must stand resolutely shoulder-to-shoulder with the LGBTQ+ community when their rights come under assault from Republican politicians who are bent on cruelty and discrimination.
