Hi team, We're coming back to you with an update on the DCCC’s 2022 Frontline Program List. Today, we’re giving updates on two of our members from the midwest: Rep. Lauren Underwood (IL-14) and Rep. Sharice Davids (KS-03). In a time when coordinated attacks on LGBTQ+ Americans' rights are being propagated by the right, the GOP is specifically targeting Congress's first LGBTQ+ Native American member in their redistricting efforts. As we mentioned previously, Rep. Davids faces a difficult reelection path under the Kansas GOP’s redistricting map that would split a key county between two congressional districts in an effort to weaken her electoral prospects. The GOP is effectively trying to erase LGBTQ+ representation in Congress. Meanwhile in Illinois, Rep. Lauren Underwood, the lone Democrat in her congressional race, picked up an additional Republican challenger, Kendall County Board Chairman Scott Gryder. This makes 5 total challengers in the race, including now Gryder, who is on record that he does not believe Trump instigated the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
