March is Women’s History Month, a real opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions of women in American history.

In California alone, we have more than our fair share of incredible trailblazers to celebrate, women who have broken barriers from the agricultural fields of Stockton to the outer reaches of our galaxy.

Dolores Huerta , famed labor organizer and community activist, has spent her life advocating for farmworkers. As a beloved community member in Stockton, Huerta has also organized voter registration drives and focused on community improvement at large.

Sally Ride , born in Los Angeles, was the first American woman and the first LGBTQ+ person to go to space. As an astronaut and physicist, Ride broke barriers for women in STEM before it was popular to do so.

The Bay Area’s own Nancy Pelosi is the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives. Speaker Pelosi serves as a role model for women across the country, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve California alongside her.

And team, I would be remiss if I failed to mention our history-making, glass ceiling-breaking Vice President of the United States of America Kamala Harris. Vice President Harris has spent her life making the world around her a better, more equitable place.

California women continue to make history, and I feel privileged to be able to bear witness.

But as we know all too well, women haven’t been upheld and respected in our country as much as they deserve. While my fellow Democrats in Congress and I have worked to move the causes of women’s rights and equity forward, the GOP has blocked laws like the Violence Against Women Act. Just this week, a handful of Republican Senators even voted down the Women’s Health Protection Act, which is critical to advancing the economic, social, and political rights of women.

It’s as clear as day that the GOP doesn’t care about these critical issues. That’s why we must defend and expand our majority.

If you would like to join me in honoring every woman this month, please consider making a contribution to protect and expand the Democratic majority in the House and the Senate [[link removed]] so that we can continue to fight for the rights of women in every aspect of our society.
