Yesterday, I was with President Biden at the White House as he signed the
bill I co-led into law — a piece of legislation to end forced arbitration,
empower survivors of sexual assault and harassment to seek justice, and
hold perpetrators of sexual violence accountable.

It was a historic day for survivors of sexual assault. We said clearly and
decisively that we believe them and that they deserve to pursue justice
for themselves.

The Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act
empowers sexual assault survivors to choose how they want to seek justice
for abusive treatment, and allows them to have their day in court.

Forced arbitration clauses are buried in the fine print of everything from
employment agreements and ubiquitous terms and conditions to everyday
digital click-through "agreements." This legislation voids forced
arbitration provisions as they apply to sexual assault and harassment
survivors, allowing survivors to seek justice, discuss their cases
publicly, and eliminate institutional protections for harassers.

Forced arbitration has for far too long silenced survivors and I’m happy
to see this predatory practice banned for good. I’m grateful to President
Biden for signing the bill into law.

I was so proud to be the lead cosponsor in the committee of jurisdiction,
the House Judiciary Committee, and to win these important rights for
sexual assault survivors. There’s a lot of work left to do to protect
people from assault and harassment in the workplace and all across
society. [ [link removed] ]If you’re able to donate to my continued advocacy on these
