John,
On Tuesday night, President Biden underscored the need for care in his State of the Union address. Now, it’s critical Congress do its part and fulfill the President’s plan for a historic investment in our care infrastructure and care economy.
Family caregivers and care workers are beyond exhausted physically, emotionally and financially and have had to duct-tape together care for their children, older family members and loved ones with disabilities.
Don’t just take it from me. Caring Across supporters have been sharing their stories – their State of Care – for the last week. You can see them on Facebook and YouTube.
Christina talked about the $3500 per month she has to pay out of pocket for her mom’s care.
Jeffery talked about the inhospitable, confusing state of our care infrastructure.
Lisa talked about her own vascular dementia and her partner’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
And there are plenty more stories like those.
What’s the State of Care for your family? You can share your story (and a photo, if you want!) at caringacross.org/StateOfCare.

It’s time for Congress to get behind the President, to support caregivers in every state, and realize the potential of an economy that centers care and allows all workers to provide for their families without the worry of making impossible choices. Because Care Can’t Wait.
We need an investment to provide much-needed relief for direct care workers who have sacrificed so much throughout the pandemic and the families who depend on their care.
There are common sense steps Congress can take to lessen the economic pain that our country will face in the coming months.
As President Biden outlined in his address, investing in workers and their families, lowering costs for families by investing in home and community based services, cutting childcare costs for families, and passing a federal paid leave policy are critical to an economy that works for all of us, not just the wealthy.
Share your State of Care today.
With care,
