Hi John! In case we haven’t met yet, I’m Dan, the Organizing Director for the Morgan Harper campaign.
As Organizing Director, my number-one priority for this campaign is to make sure that our campaign can reach as many Ohio voters as possible — from every part of the state. Mobilizing folks to vote for Morgan in May requires our team to build deep ties to communities throughout Ohio, and build trust. We have a lot of work to do with just 60 days until the primary — and that’s why we need your help.
Together, we can build the largest organizing team Ohio has ever seen to beat out our far-right and our corporate-backed opponents. Here’s how you can get involved in our organizing program, John:
Canvassing
We are knocking doors across the state to identify Morgan supporters, and talk to undecided Democratic voters about the issues that matter most to them and why Morgan is the best person to represent them in the U.S. Senate. Closer to the election, we’ll also be reaching back out to supporters to make sure they have a plan to vote!
We have canvass events already scheduled across different communities that you can sign up for. If there isn’t one in your area we also have a huge need for canvass hosts. Hosting a canvass means you’d schedule an event on our event platform and serve as the point person for other volunteers. We’ll have our organizing team train you through webinars and 1:1 trainings to ensure you’re completely prepared and comfortable. The day of the canvass you’d run a quick training at the beginning of each canvass and distribute materials provided by the campaign.
Solo canvassing is also an option if there isn’t a canvass nearby, or if the scheduled dates don’t fit with your schedule.
Call Team
You can sign up to join the call team where you’ll help make phone calls to voters and supporters across the state. Together, you can help us recruit more volunteers, and talk to voters about why Morgan is the best candidate, while reminding them to vote.

Texting
Our texting program is a great opportunity to reach hundreds, or even thousands of voters from home! If you join our texting team, you’ll be texting people on our targeted list to make sure as many voters as possible know about Morgan, to identify our supporters, and ultimately remind them to vote before the primary!

Data Entry/Admin
If you volunteer to help out with our data entry/admin team, you’ll help support the canvassing program by using our voter database software to convert our statewide list of targeted voters into specific walkable lists that canvassers will use to knock doors. Our staff and volunteers will also collect important contact information on paper sign-up sheets from people who attend our events or that we meet out in the field, and the data entry team will make sure we can actually use all that information by helping enter it into our campaign database.
We’ll provide training via webinars and written documentation for every step of the process.
Additional Volunteer Opportunities
We also have a lot of other miscellaneous ways to get involved with our campaign. Occasionally we’ll need temporary housing for staff or volunteers, donated office space, donated office supplies, or social media amplification, just to name a few.
