John, It’s been over a year now since hundreds of insurrectionists stormed the Capitol in an attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election at the incitement of former President Donald Trump. Since that time, Trump and his associates have yet to face any accountability from the US Justice Department for the federal crimes they have committed. Now, the House January 6th Committee has issued some of its key findings, via a court filing, stating that there is enough evidence showing that Trump may have engaged in a criminal conspiracy to hold onto power and subvert the will of the American people. The Committee’s court filing, made in a civil case in California, argues that Trump, attorney John Eastman, and other allies could face criminal charges for obstructing an official proceeding of Congress and conspiracy to defraud the American people. The Committee’s lawyers make a very compelling case, but the Justice Department has yet to act. If we are to recover from the most lawless administration in American history, we must hold corrupt actors accountable for their crimes. Tell the Department of Justice to investigate Trump and his associates for any potential federal criminal or civil violations they may have committed. Trump’s incitement of the seditious insurrection on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 was the culmination of years of unconstitutional and often criminal activities perpetrated by Trump and his associates. Restoring the integrity of the Department of Justice and the rule of law to our nation requires that the Department thoroughly investigate these actions and, where warranted and appropriate, hold accountable those who have violated the nation’s laws. Sign if you agree: The Department of Justice must investigate—and, if appropriate, prosecute—Trump and his associates, because nobody is above the law. In solidarity, Free Speech For People |
