Friend, it’s Women’s History Month!
The month has just started, and we’ve already made history: On Tuesday, we watched the first State of the Union speech attended by a woman Vice President and Speaker of the House:
WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across two key dimensions: women’s economic and social well-being, and women’s health care and safety.
It then examined those dimensions using 25 relevant metrics. Each metric was graded on a 100 point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for women.
So, what rank does Georgia’s overall score of 43.34 get? That would be 43rd, or the ninth-worst state for women. The state dropped two spots from last year.
This low ranking is no coincidence. Republicans have had complete control of Georgia’s state government for almost 20 years. They have refused to expand Medicaid or raise wages and have been actively hostile to our freedom to vote, thrive, and make decisions about our bodies.
The solution? Elect more Democratic women in Georgia!
Together, we can elect Stacey Abrams, Jen Jordan, and Bee Nguyen as our Governor, Attorney General, and Secretary of State. But we won’t stop there – we will grow the ranks of pro-science, pro-choice, pro-freedom women up and down the ballot, from City Council to the State House.
