What Delivering Results Means
Chairman Kyle Hupfer speaks on a panel at the 2022 Congress of Counties about what's on the horizon for the Indiana General Assembly. He was joined by Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives Todd Huston and Senate Majority Floor Lead Mark Messmer
Last weekend we hosted over 400 registered attendees from all across the state at the historic French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind., for our 2022 Congress of Counties. And thanks to you, our presenters, panelists, vendors, special guests, and staff, it was another huge success!

There is nothing better than gathering with a group of fired-up Hoosier Republicans who are ready to put in the work to win this November
—it's events like this that bring us our successes and keep us the dominant force in Indiana politics.

But this is only possible because we deliver results. Indeed, it's strong Republican leadership that has put Indiana in the successful position that it is today—whether it's in regard to our economy, our infrastructure, or our state's finances. And it's strong Republican leadership that has again brought us to a moment where we can cut taxes for hardworking Hoosiers and businesses.

Yesterday, Governor Holcomb released an op-ed putting his full support behind major income and business tax cuts. I encourage you to read it in its entirety, which you can do here, but there is one section specifically I want to highlight:

"Since 2005, Indiana has demonstrated strong stewardship of taxpayer dollars while constantly finding ways to responsibly return those dollars to the people and businesses that have helped our state grow—proving that cutting taxes can increase revenue. During that period, we have cut taxes at least 10 times and paid down billions of dollars in debt."

Thanks again for making the 2022 Congress of Counties a huge success and for your dedication to a party that is focused on delivering results. We can't do this without you.

Enjoy this week's newsletter and share it with a friend.

Best,

Chairman Kyle Hupfer
Governor Holcomb's Week That Was
Standing with the People of Ukraine
On Monday, Governor Holcomb signed an executive order in response to Putin’s all-out attack on the people of Ukraine.

The executive order takes the following actions, among others:
  • The Indiana Department of Administration will review all state contracts that involve Russian-owned or Russian-affiliated companies.
  • The Indiana Office of Technology will continue to strengthen our critical state infrastructure to protect the system from Russian cyber-attacks and the Governor encourages private businesses to do the same.
  • The Commission for Higher Education will request that public colleges and universities report all Russian funding received for programs, research, and grants and report its findings to the governor’s office.
  • The state of Indiana will standby to assist Ukrainian refugees should a federal policy, program, or initiative be implemented requiring access to appropriate locations across the country.

ICYMI: Holcomb throws support behind major tax cuts for Hoosiers, businesses

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb threw his full support Thursday behind major state tax cuts, saying tax collections were strong enough to overcome his previous reluctance.

Holcomb released a statement endorsing much of a plan for broad business and individual tax cuts pushed by Indiana House Republicans that has been opposed by Senate Republican leaders. Holcomb has for several months sided with those Senate Republicans, citing uncertainty in the economy, until signaling a shift in his opinion last week.

Rep. Victoria Spartz on the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Last Tuesday, Rep. Victoria Spartz spoke at the House Republicans leadership news conference on Russia's invasion of Ukraine. "This is not a war. This is genocide of the Ukrainian people by a crazy man," stated Rep. Spartz

She also criticized President Biden for his initial soft approach to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “We have a president that talks ... and doesn’t do things,” Rep. Spartz said. “What is he going to do, wait until millions die? Then he’s going to do more? I mean, we have not just a moral duty, we are the leaders of the free world.”
