There are some realities about our political system we can’t hide from, friend.
We can’t hide from the fact that our democracy is at risk, or that it’s essential to show up to the ballot box in huge numbers in November to save it. The anti-democratic behavior we’ve seen from Republican AGs, like amplifying false cases of voter fraud and making formal attempts to delay election certification, was just the beginning of the clear and ongoing threat to the way our elections work.
Here’s what experts fear may happen in 2024: if a Democratic candidate wins narrowly in a state that has a Republican AG, that Republican AG could use their position to delegitimize the election results, amplify false records of voter fraud, and attempt to prosecute county clerks and other election administrators in an attempt to overturn the election results.
In the 2020 presidential election, Democratic AGs:
Protected mail-in ballots and ensured millions of lawfully cast votes were counted
Enforced election laws and supported the work of state and local election officials
Took on voter intimidation and racist disinformation campaigns
Actively investigated claims of fraud to ensure a free and fair election
Meanwhile, Republican AGs in states like Texas, Florida, and more have abused the power of their office and tried to undermine and overturn Joe Biden’s legitimate victory and the will of the American people.
We need allies in office fighting to defend a legitimate electoral system. We can always count on Dem AGs to do the right thing for our democracy, but we need to elect them first.
We’re going to need them on our side to protect our democratic system.
Thank you,
Team DAGA
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in 2022, we need your support – will you chip in today?
