Dear John,

In February, we celebrated two historic firsts. President Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson has an amazing career of public defense and protecting worker rights, immigrant rights, and democracy. She is the first Black woman ever nominated to serve on the Supreme Court, which is a long overdue milestone. Countless highly qualified Black women have been passed over for our highest Court so we are thrilled this omission has finally been corrected.

AND the Senate took its first-ever vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), which would protect the right to abortion across the U.S. While WHPA did not pass the Senate, this vote was a critical step in building key legislative support for abortion access. Over 500 health care providers from across the country signed our letter in support of WHPA.

I also want to share a few more highlights with you, including PRH Fellow Dr. Kanthi Dhaduvai’s letter in The Florida Times-Union sharing why Florida's pending 15-week abortion ban, which was just passed by the state legislature last night, will hurt people and families.

Our work is far from over. Thank you for helping keep our advocates mobilized at this critical time and for all you do to support reproductive health and rights.
