Hello John,

After 2 years of COVID and uncertainty, States United to Prevent Gun Violence remains present and charging forward. We are now 100% volunteer-run by our current Board Members and others like Barbara Hohlt, former SUPGV Treasurer. She retired but continues to volunteer her time and energy. We are grateful to her and to all who donated last year to keep us going. We plan on sending quarterly newsletters to you, our most dedicated supporters. THANK YOU!

Look who's on TikTok

Every Thursday, Keishas With The News, shares its view on gun violence ... in less than 1 minute.  Episodes include topics such as:

  • strict drunk driving laws vs. lax gun laws
  • book banning vs. designing guns for kids
  • car insurance vs. gun insurance
  • calling your legislators

Informative and sometimes a little sarcastic, the episodes appeal to both kids and adults!

Educating the Public on ERPO

Colorado Ceasefire produced a new YouTube video on Colorado's Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) law.

ERPO is a civil order issued by a court when someone is at risk of violence to self or others. A person who is subject to an ERPO cannot purchase or possess guns while the order is in place. Colorado's ERPO law allows those on the front lines to ask a court to prevent a person, who is at risk of violence, from purchasing or possessing firearms.

On the Legislation Front: Safe & Secure Storage

Ethan's Law, HR.748 was introduced over a year ago in the House. The #KeepKidsSafe Coalition is working hard to bring this bill to the House floor for a vote. They're now in Washington D.C. this week to advocate and gain key cosponsors. If you have any connections to help them reach their goal, please contact [email protected]

Meet SUPGV new Board Chair

You might already know her - Kate Dominguez! She has taken the helm after Zoe Grover stepped down as 2021 interim Board Chair. With Kate's previous experience on the SUPGV staff and unwavering commitment to the gun violence prevention movement, we are fortunate to have her lead the charge. She joins the current SUPGV executive board team: Secretary Eileen McCarron and Treasurer Sonya Yee Coleman; and board members Geoff Bickford, Adam Garber, Zoe Grover, Kaila Hicks and Jeremy Stein.
