John -- A.G. Holder said the Supreme Court’s recent decision to allow 2022 elections to proceed under Alabama’s gerrymandered map is “an ideological abuse of the Court’s power and stands in the way of delivering Black voters the opportunity to elect candidates of their choice.”

Redistricting expert David Daley agrees with A.G. Holder. He said the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Alabama -- along with previous rulings like the gutting of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and its decision to not put guardrails on partisan gerrymandering -- are primary reasons how extreme politicians are able to succeed in their efforts of “stripping Black voters of their voice in Congress.”

In his CNN op-ed, Daley also cited a Washington Post report that found experts and judges are saying, “Black and Latino voters have been shortchanged in redistricting.”
