Last week, Northampton, Massachusetts joined Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Chelsea, Philadelphia, and other cities across the country in calling on President Biden to cancel student debt.
Our coalition for student loan debt cancellation is growing, in Massachusetts and across the nation. And Ayanna and our movement aren’t letting up the pressure on President Biden until he takes permanent action.
Student debt is policy violence — no person should be forced to choose between making loan payments or putting food on the table.
The $1.8 trillion burden on families and people across the country is worsening economic inequality, preventing wealth building, and stifling the dreams of millions of Americans — but we can change that without waiting for Congress to act.
President Biden has the authority to cancel student debt with the stroke of a pen and he must use it to provide sweeping relief to the millions of individuals and families crushed by this financial burden.
