Friend,
It's more important than ever that the U.S. lead the world in a global transition away from fossil fuels. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is an enormous tragedy, and it's being powered by fossil fuel money.
The U.S. government must be empowered to regulate climate pollution and accelerate a just transition to a clean energy economy where there is no room for petrostate autocrats like Putin.
And that very power is potentially on the chopping block: This week, the Supreme Court heard a case that directly threatens our ability to regulate climate pollution. That's why right now, I'm asking you to take the next step in your climate advocacy and submit a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to get the word out about West Virginia v. EPA. (To make it as easy and quick as possible, we've already done a lot of the work for you.)
Will you take a minute today to submit a letter to the editor of your local newspaper in support of federal climate action? (We wrote a customizable letter that you can sign. No extra effort required!)
The conservative supermajority on the Court is considering gutting the Clean Air Act, undercutting the EPA, and limiting executive climate power. This one decision, which will be released in June, could disrupt 50 years of precedent and progress.
So we need to speak up now, before it's too late. With just a minute of your time, you can help get the message to SCOTUS that the American people want clean air, an effective EPA, and federal climate action—and as one of our strongest supporters in Washington, we need YOU to join us and elevate this issue in District of Columbia.
And though this action takes just a minute, it is one of the strongest you can take today: The opinion section is the most widely read section of any newspaper. It's where community members turn for new ideas and where powerful decision-makers take the pulse of the nation.
Click here to use our easy and quick tool to submit a letter to the editor in just a minute. We have a pre-written message (that you are welcome to edit!), and we'll find your local paper for you. Once you submit via our tool, we submit directly to your local paper.
Your voice is your most powerful tool in the climate movement—and now is the time to use it.
Thank you for taking a high-impact action with us today,
Lena Moffitt
