Team,

On February 25, 2022, President Joe Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to become the 116th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

Judge Brown Jackson is a former public defender, and if confirmed, will be the first public defende r and the first Black woman to serve on the Court. And thanks to her incredible record of service, Judge Brown Jackson has been confirmed by the Senate on a bipartisan basis three times previously.

Join us as we congratulate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her history-making nomination by signing our Team Swalwell card! >> [[link removed]]

Since the creation of the Supreme Court in 1789, America has had 115 justices, and 108 have been white men. Having a diverse Supreme Court is crucial for promoting a justice system that is fair, especially as it rules on topics ranging from abortion to affirmative action.

The nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is an historic moment for our country. In delivering on his campaign promise to appoint a Black woman to the Supreme Court, President Biden has taken steps to disrupt our history of overwhelmingly white and male courts. Now, the Supreme Court is closer than ever before to actually reflecting America.

In 2016, Justice Sotomayor perfectly stated why the Supreme Court will benefit from more diversity, saying, "A different perspective can permit you to more fully understand the arguments that are before you and help you articulate your position in a way that everyone will understand."

We believe Judge Brown Jackson is just the person to bring this perspective to the job. If you agree, join us in congratulating Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson and celebrating this historic nomination! [[link removed]]
