“With the 2022 midterms ahead, expect another Latino misinformation crisis ”

We’re sounding the alarm, John: Experts are predicting Latinos will again be flooded with misinformation ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, just like they were in 2022. They noted that countering misinformation in the Latinx community will be "important for American democracy.”

Researchers wrote that "findings of this study suggest that Latinos are affected by a different misinformation environment than reaches the U.S. population at large, and are often targeted in ways specific to their national backgrounds." This means that the majority of the country has no idea how big of a problem this is.

This is exactly why we launched the Latino Anti-Disinformation Lab last year. Will you rush a donation now to help us inoculate Latinx voters against disinformation before it’s too late?

Latinos make up a significant share of the total voting-age population and vary greatly in location, age, political belief, and class. Threats to Latino voters are a threat to U.S. democracy as a whole.

Our researchers are currently investigating the spread of disinformation in the Latinx community, and we can’t wait to share their findings with you.

In the meantime, we need your support to keep this critical work going. Will you pitch in now to help us protect our democracy from coordinated misinformation campaigns?
