[1]Bowman for Congress

John,

On Tuesday night, we heard from President Biden as he addressed the nation
in his first Presidential State of the Union.

Before the address, Jamaal took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the
weight and importance of Biden's speech. And he urged us all to use our
voice to hold our elected officials accountable for the changes we deserve
to see. But that is only a portion of our grassroots work.

John, it's on all
of us to hold elected officials accountable and ensure they deliver on
their campaign promises and efforts to repair our crumbling democracy.

Biden's speech was one that millions of us worked day and night for since
2020, amidst the wave of Trump supporters who actively tried to break down
our democratic process.

We waited to hear what actions he planned to take in 2022 to answer the
calls for universal pre-K and childcare, lower prescription drugs, ending
gun violence, student debt cancellation, fighting the climate emergency,
and protecting our democracy.

While we heard many key points shared by President Biden, his address
highlighted that we still have a lot of work to do,
John. Not once did President
Biden address canceling student loan debt, ending the filibuster, voting
rights or accountability in policing and our criminal justice system.

Instead, President Biden made a motion to continue funding the police with
more resources — directly contradicting our calls to defund and
decarcerate. This is a step in the wrong direction. The key to our
progress does not start with strengthening an already unjust system. We
need critical investments for our teachers, schools, counselors and
community resources at the ground-level and upwards.

One thing is for certain,
John: progressive leaders are
paving the way for much needed reform — so it's crucial that we continue
to uplift progressive voices in Congress and the leaders fighting to get
there. [ [link removed] ]Your support will show everyone that our grassroots progressive
campaign is motivated and ready to push for the change we deserve. Please
consider making a contribution of [ [link removed] ]$4.50 [ [link removed] ]or more so we
can continue our hard work.

Thank you,

Bowman for Congress
