 B Stands for Betterment

Good afternoon,

The last time we saw major immigration reform in the U.S. was in 1986 -
That's What Friends Are For by Dionne and Friends was the top single,
the Oprah Winfrey Show debuted nationally, and the Chernobyl and
Challenger tragedies dominated the news. That was 36 years ago.

Today we have an outdated immigration system that is inadequate to meet
our country's economic needs, keep our border secure, and provide
sufficient opportunities for all who call the U.S. home. The lives of
undocumented immigrants who have contributed tremendously to our economy
and culture are dominated by uncertainty and fear of deportation. The
constant challenges at the border affect our nation's ability to manage
the proper flow of goods and people in a secure and orderly manner. And
workforce limitations in the agricultural system are contributing to
supply chain disruptions and raising cost concerns across the board.

It's time for real change in the immigration system - and an
overwhelming percentage

of Americans across the political spectrum want Republicans and
Democrats to work together to make this happen.

With these realities in mind, we're excited to announce the Alliance
for a New Immigration Consensus (ANIC)
,
a new coalition formed by business, faith, education, national security,
and advocacy organizations to advance bipartisan legislative solutions
on immigration reforms. The ANIC will build support for permanent legal
protections for Dreamers, TPS recipients, and agricultural workers,
along with commonsense border security in 2022.

We are all witnessing the failures of the current system and the impact
this has on our daily lives. A balanced approach to reforming our
immigration system can be unifying, rather than polarizing. The ANIC
partner organizations believe that reaching legislative bipartisan
consensus on incremental reforms in the short term can lead to larger,
more systemic reforms in the future that will benefit all of us.

I hope you'll join the National Immigration Forum and the Alliance for
a New Immigration Consensus by adding your name
as a supporter and
telling Congress that it's time for
meaningful bipartisan solutions that transform our immigration system
from the 1980s into the 21st century.

Stay healthy and hopeful,

Adam

P.S. We are following the crisis in Ukraine closely and stand with
Ukrainians as they fight for freedom and democracy. Our thoughts and
prayers are also with Ukrainians that are either in the U.S. without
permanent status or fleeing as refugees. Join us
in urging the Biden administration to act
swiftly to protect Ukrainians in the U.S. and prepare for Ukrainian
refugees who
desperately need our help.
