SLIDESHOW: Wildlife and climate change threats:
[link removed]

In 2019, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warned that as many as 1 million animal species could be facing extinction in the coming decades.

Our newest wildlife slideshow, Species at risk in a warming world, features some of the species most at risk today.

In honor of World Wildlife Day, check out our colorful slideshow and meet our 12 featured species:

From the snow-white Arctic fox to the ancient giant sequoias of Sierra Nevada, their stories illustrate just how many different - and often unexpected - ways climate change can make it harder for wildlife to survive and thrive.

One of our featured species has been called “the most committed lovers" of their kind because they mate for life. But in our slideshow, you’ll learn how climate change is driving increased “divorce” among these famous monogamists, and why that could spell trouble for their future.

The truth is, whether it’s from sea level rise or drought, blistering summers or dwindling sources of food, most of Earth’s living creatures are in some way vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

As humans, we have the unique ability to organize and stand up for species who need our help. And the most effective way to help all of Earth’s creatures is to fight climate change in every way - and with everyone - we can.

The climate crisis touches every environmental issue EDF works on. Thanks to our members' support, we're not just fighting for tough legal regulations to protect our climate... we're also guiding businesses to become responsible climate stewards, helping farmers and ranchers implement climate-smart practices and finding innovative new ways to make our communities more resilient in the face of climate change.
