New Campaign Adds Momentum to the Push for Reforms
**WASHINGTON, D.C.** -Â The LIBRE Initiative and Americans for
Prosperity today announced a new campaign that expands the drive for
immigration reforms in 2022.
The seven-figure
Stronger U.S. campaign includes
digital ads, events, and mailers in support of congressional action on
solutions addressing "security at our border, the uncertainty for our
Dreamers, and the economic and workforce situation in our agricultural
industry."
The announcement follows Wednesday's launch of the Alliance for a New
Immigration Consensus
(ANIC). It comprises nearly 30 organizations, including the National
Immigration Forum, calling for bipartisan legislative solutions
this year on border security and for specific immigrant populations.
President Biden sounded similar themes Tuesday during his State of the
Union address
.
Coverage of the ANIC has appeared in CBS News
,
Fox News
,
POLITICO Influence
,
the Arizona Republic
and Baptist News Global
,
among other outlets.
New polling
reflects the urgency for reforms that address the priorities the
alliance and Stronger U.S. are prioritizing: In a poll conducted Feb.
19-23, 79% of registered voters, including 76% of Republicans and 81% of
white evangelical Protestants, support "Republicans and Democrats
working together on immigration reforms that strengthen border security,
create a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who came to
the United States as children, and ensure a legal, reliable workforce
for America's farmers and ranchers." Furthermore, 72% of registered
voters, including 65% of Republicans, in the poll said they support such
reforms "before the November 2022 midterm elections."
The results are in line with polling
the LIBRE Initiative and Americans for Prosperity conducted last fall.
"This week's efforts and findings point to key areas where Republicans
and Democrats can find common ground, with the support of a remarkable
majority of Americans," said
**Ali Noorani, President and CEO of the National Immigration Forum**.
"The message is clear: Let's find consensus on a secure, humane
approach at the border, and on solutions for people already here and
contributing - Dreamers, farmworkers, and recipients of Temporary
Protected Status."
