UN, U.S. House Condemn Putin's Invasion

The United Nations General Assembly and the U.S. House of Representatives each passed resolutions Wednesday which condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

The UN General Assembly voted on a resolution that reaffirmed Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders; deplored Russia’s aggression in the strongest terms; demanded an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of the Russian military from Ukraine; and called on Russia to abide by the UN Charter, among other related provisions.

The U.S. House considered a non-binding resolution that demanded an immediate ceasefire and the full withdrawal of Russian military forces from Ukraine’s territory.

How do you feel about the UN and U.S. House resolutions condemning Putin’s invasion?

Dems' Abortion Rights Bill Fails to Advance in Senate

The Senate voted Monday to reject a bill offered by Democrats to enshrine abortion rights and prevent states from enacting restrictions on abortion.

The vote failed 46-48, well short of the 60 vote threshold needed to overcome the legislative filibuster. All Republican senators who were present voted against advancing the bill and were joined by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV).

The Women’s Health Protection Act would create a federal right to abortion and preempt state laws on the subject. It would define fetal viability for legal purposes based on healthcare providers’ good-faith medical judgment about whether there’s a likelihood of sustained fetal survival outside the womb or without artificial support.

Do you support or oppose Democrats’ abortion rights bill?
