Inhofe’s Retirement Signals End of a Reign of Hypocrisy

OKLAHOMA CITY—MARCH 2, 2022 – James Inhofe’s resignation is the ending of a reign of hypocrisy, out-of-touch lawmaking, and loony rhetoric. Oklahomans have endured 36 years of legendary obstructionism, climate change denial, misogyny, and crying that our schools are brainwashing our children.

“Inhofe, the do as I say—not as I do, Senator leaves behind a legacy of hypocrisy,” stated Alicia Andrews, Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party. “Inhofe voted against disaster relief for the damage of Katrina on Louisiana but demanded it for Oklahoma disasters. While we are grateful that our Oklahoma neighbors had access to funds, but the good people of Louisiana deserved additional financial assistance as well. Read more...

Do Oklahoma Republicans Agree with Trump that Putin is ‘Smart,’ ‘Savvy’ and a ‘Genius’?

OKLAHOMA CITY—MARCH 1, 2022 – The Republican Party’s leader has spent the last week shamelessly praising Vladimir Putin as the Russian military indiscriminately bombs Ukrainian civilians. Republicans have worked hard to avoid answering questions about Donald Trump’s praise but that simply is not a tenable position as the Ukrainian people bravely fight back against Putin’s invasion. “Women’s History Month represents a time for Americans to honor the progress made possible by the sacrifice, determination, and contributions of women that have made our country stronger. Democrats Announce 2022 Legislative Priorities

OKLAHOMA CITY — The House Democratic Caucus on Wednesday presented their legislative priorities for the 2022 Legislative Session.

The Democratic Caucus highlighted policy initiatives in five primary areas: transparency and accountability, health care, criminal justice, education, and the state economy.

House Minority Leader Emily Virgin, D-Norman, spoke to the intent of Democratic policies and reiterated the caucus’ recent success to elevate ideas focused on Oklahomans. Virgin named the EITC, protecting education funding, and eliminating the state grocery tax as examples. Read more...

 DEMOCRATS IN ACTION

An afternoon of Virtual Phone Banking

Members Jo Beth Moad, Liz Wilson, Robbie White, Krista Jones, and others worked with ODP Field Director, Eric Smith, calling 700 democrats Tuesday afternoon and night asking three questions:

  1. Can you commit to voting in the school board election on Tuesday, April 5th?
  2. Would you like your ballot mailed to you?
  3. Can I send you the link to sign up through the Okvoterportal?

The calls were made to democrats in Edmond District 5, Tulsa district 7 and 4, and Norman District 2. The Virtual phone Bank is easy and painless, and the responses are recorded automatically for Get out the Vote as it gets closer to the election. This is smart politics identifying High Support voters and encouraging them to vote for these critical races.
