WATCH: Conversion therapy letter authors respond to online abuse
======

Dear supporter,

In February, a letter signed by more than 2,500 church leaders and pastoral workers was presented to Downing Street. It simply asked that a ban on so-called conversion therapy does not outlaw the ordinary work of churches.

In response, LGBT activists publicly shared the names and church details of these signatories on social media, warning people not to attend those churches claiming they could be “unsafe”. Jayne Ozanne, one of the most prominent activists pushing for a wide-ranging ban, publicly accused them of abusing LGBT people. Disgracefully, an LGBT charity in Lancaster even compared their concerns to the Holocaust ([link removed]) .

I recently spoke to two of the letter’s authors: paediatrician and youth worker Dr Julie Maxwell and Associate Director of Church Society Dr Ros Clarke, to find out how they had been affected.
