Dear John,

Low-income communities and communities of color are disproportionately impacted by air and water pollution, toxic waste, and the effects of climate change. That’s where the Governor’s Environmental Justice Taskforce (EJTF) steps in [[link removed]].

Their job is to help address issues of environmental injustice in Oregon. But this important taskforce is understaffed and underfunded, and relies on community volunteers instead of paid staff members.

The Environmental Justice Council bill, HB 4077, would give the EJTF the additional funding it needs, and it would also fund a program to create much-needed maps that document environmental and health disparities in Oregon. This bill passed the House yesterday and is on its way to a Senate vote soon. Please ask your state senator to vote yes on HB 4077 [[link removed]]!

Thank you,
Julia DeGraw
