Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Week in Review

"For the week ending November 15, 2019"



On *Monday*, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine spent Veterans Day in Georgetown, Ohio, at the veterans retirement home. He was joined by the Director of the Department of Veterans Services, Maj. Gen. Deborah Ashenhurst (U.S. Army, retired) and the 3rd grade class from St. Veronica School in Cincinnati.As part of the program, Governor DeWine presented the first ever Ohio Governors Excellence in Service Award for Serving Ohios Veterans to Peter Cline and Terese Hurin. After the program, Governor DeWine toured the home and visited with residents.

On *Monday,*Lt. Governor Jon Husted spoke at the Veterans Day Celebration at Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services in Wilmington, Ohio. The company places a priority on hiring service members and their families, and the annual event honors their service.

On *Tuesday*,Governor DeWine joined thousands of law enforcement officers and community members to honor the life and service of Dayton Police Detective Jorge Del Rio. Det. Del Rio, a 30-year veteran of the Dayton Police Department, was killed in the line of duty.

On *Wednesday*, Governor DeWine met with the National Commander of the American Legion and several member of the Ohio Legion.

On *Wednesday*, Lt. Governor Husted joined the Dayton Development Coalition (DDC) for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Pitch Day event. This program gives companies the opportunity to pitch their businesses and services to the U.S. Air Force. The Lt. Governor provided opening remarks for the event about how Ohio is working to support innovative employers and programs across the state.

On *Thursday,*Governor DeWineunveiled H2Ohio, a comprehensive, data-driven water quality plan to reduce harmful algal blooms, improve wastewater infrastructure, and prevent lead contamination.

Governor DeWine Announces the H2Ohio Initiative

On *Friday*, the Governor and First Lady Fran DeWine joined Wendy Thomas, daughter of Dave Thomas, and Todd Penegor, CEO of Wendy's, at Wendy's 50th Birthday Celebration in Dublin, Ohio. Founder Dave Thomas opened the first Wendy's restaurant in downtown Columbus on November 15, 1969. Today there are more than 6,700 Wendy's restaurants around the world.
