Health Affairs' February issue on Racism & Health highlighted significant health disparities in the U.S. as well as social determinants of health (SDOH) that must be addressed to ensure better health outcomes for all patients.
This free summit, open to all and with many of the sessions virtual, entails six events in
March starting this Thursday night, March 3.
This won't be a summit that simply identifies that social determinants of health matter and leaves it at that. We want you to attend and come away with actionable steps about how to recognize and address the social determinants of health in today’s health policy.
Our sessions will cover the impact of food and nutrition policy, how to turn SDOH knowledge into evidence and practice, how to break the cycle of negative health outcomes due to SDOH, and how health care organizations can partner with non-health care organizations to address SDOH.
We also will host in person in
Washington, D.C. a community service event and a networking happy hour.
Our speakers include:
• Keynote Speaker: Donna Shalala, PhD, Trustee Professor of Political Science and Health Policy at the University of Miami, Former HHS Secretary and Member of Congress
• Sarah Lichtman Spector from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
• Kripa Sreepada, Health Policy Advisor to Sen. Tina Smith
• Ed Hunter from the National Alliance to Impact Social Determinants of Health
• Rebekah Rollston from Cambridge Health Alliance
