That report explains that the disastrous effects of the climate crisis will soon overwhelm the ability of humanity and nature to adapt to it—unless we take immediate action to reduce greenhouse gasses.

In other words, we have zero time to waste in addressing the climate crisis before it becomes an outright catastrophe. This latest IPCC report warns that if the Earth warms more than 1.5° Celsius the consequences could be irreversible and we’re already at 1.2°! Here in North America, that means more large wildfires and droughts, severe storms and hurricanes, and sea level rise—all of which will upend global supply chains and disrupt international trade. Many species, particularly in the Arctic, will face extinction.¹

The IPCC report also starkly details the inequality in which countries around the world are experiencing the climate crisis. Simply put, the communities who have contributed the least to the problem are the ones feeling the harshest effects—from high heat exposure to mosquito-borne illness, water scarcity and more.²

President Biden has taken significant steps this year, but now it's time Congress does its job by passing a historic suite of investments in communities and families struggling with the interlocking crises of climate change, health, and racial, economic, and environmental injustice.

Every day that Congress fails to pass strong climate solutions is another day of needless suffering for millions of people in the US and around the world struggling with unabated air and water pollution, and an onslaught of climate-fueled storms, wildfires, and droughts. Please, help us pressure Congress to craft and pass sweeping investments in climate and environmental justice before it's too late.

Supporter, while it's understandable to feel overwhelmed, even depressed, by the enormity of these findings, there is still time to take action—and that time is right now. With a pro-environment president in the White House, and more cities and towns committing to 100% clean energy, things are not hopeless—and we are not helpless.
