One year ago today, I officially launched my campaign for Congress, to defeat Madison Cawthorn, and bring real leadership to NC-11.

The truth is, I had no idea what sort of response to expect. I knew I had the support of my wife Meghann, our family, and our friends, but I was under no illusions that it would be easy.

To mount a winning campaign, I would need significant resources and since I made the decision to reject corporate PAC money, I would need to rely on everyday people believing in my message of love, hope, and empathy.

Then, something incredible happened. Minutes after we announced our campaign, grassroots donations began pouring in from across Western North Carolina and the country. Over 30,000 donations later, we’re a clear frontrunner in this race with more cash on hand than Cawthorn.

Not only do we have the resources to take on Cawthorn, but we have the grassroots momentum, too. We’ve knocked doors and organized all across the district and hosted seven days of action, mobilizing hundreds of volunteers to meet voters where they are.

A lot may have changed this year, but our message stays the same – I’m running for NC-11 to make insurrectionist Madison Cawthorn a one-term representative and to work with Western North Carolinians on how we can pave a new path forward rooted in love, hope, and empathy.
