** Van Jones: Biden’s Energy Was Impressive — ‘Uncle Joe Is Back’

Tuesday night on CNN ([link removed]) , political commentator Van Jones ([link removed]) reacted to President Joe Biden’s first State of the Union Address by stating that he was impressed with the president’s energy, gushing that “Uncle Joe is back.”
Jones said, “I thought that of Joe Biden at his best, Uncle Joe is back. I thought he was being the leader. Nobody believes in these American ideals more than Joe Biden. It showed tonight. He has spent his entire career standing for American unity at home. He stood for that. And for American ideals abroad. I thought, listen. I have not seen unity in this country like I saw at the beginning of that speech. I don’t want to step on that. It is very, very important that we underscore to the world that every single person stood with Joe Biden tonight. Every Republican stood on their feet.”
Sadly, that says way more about the Republicans than it does about Biden.
“Listen, I was impressed with the energy,” Jones continued. “If you didn’t believe in democracy before, if you never heard of democracy and you just looked at the body language of this guy, this guy believed every word he said. I think I am proud tonight we have a leader like him. I’m proud tonight. I think Joe Biden made it possible for everybody to stand with him.”
If Jones thinks Biden’s speech unified Americans, then he has either been paid a wheelbarrow full of money under the table for that rave review or has lost his mind. This mentally- and physically-decrepit president — who has repeatedly smeared conservatives as domestic terrorists and neo-Nazis, whose job approval ratings are in the basement, who has demonstrated over and over again that he is not making the decisions in the White House — neither projects leadership nor inspires unity.

Jones says he became politically radicalized in the aftermath of the April 1992 Los Angeles riots which erupted shortly after four L.A. police officers who had beaten the now-infamous Rodney King ([link removed]) were exonerated in court. “I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th,” says Jones, “and then the verdicts came down on April 29th. By August, I was a communist.”
By the late 1990s, Jones was a committed Marxist-Leninist-Mao ([link removed]) ist who viewed police officers as the arch-enemies of black people, and who loathed capitalism for allegedly exploiting nonwhite minorities worldwide. He became a leading member ([link removed]) of Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM ([link removed]) ), a Bay-Area Marxist-Maoist collective that had ties to the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights ([link removed]) .
