Hi John,

Thank you so much for joining our grassroots team. With your help, I know we can keep TX-32 blue and build on the progress we’ve already made with a historic Democratic majority in Congress.

I was born and raised in North Dallas by a loving single mother who taught in the Texas public school system for nearly 30 years. After earning a full-ride football scholarship at Baylor University, I played in the NFL for 5 seasons with the Tennessee Titans. I unfortunately sustained a career-ending injury, but this turn of events allowed me to pursue a different passion in life -- studying law.

I went to law school, became a civil rights attorney, and later served as Special Assistant in the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of General Counsel during the Obama Administration.

I was inspired to run for Congress by the many grassroots voices who stepped forward after the 2016 election. North Texas is one of the most dynamic and diverse communities in America, so I knew TX-32 deserved a leader in Washington who would stand up for everyone in our community rather than catering to special interest groups.

Since being sworn in as part of the most diverse freshman Congressional class in American history, we’ve been working on important issues like protecting access to affordable health care, building an economy that works for everyone, and improving our nation’s crumbling infrastructure.

But my district has already been identified by special interests and Washington Republicans as a top target in 2020. If we’re going to continue building on the progress we’ve made, we’ll need help from grassroots supporters like you to ensure we have the resources we need to run another strong campaign.

Can we count on you to chip in $32 to keep TX-32 blue in 2020 and maintain a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives? My campaign isn’t accepting a penny from corporate PACs, so any little bit you can contribute will go a long way.
