John – today, I'm more resolved than ever to defeat Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and expand our Senate majority. 

You see, Sen. Grassley and the rest of McConnell's far-right allies just blocked a crucial piece of legislation that would have essentially codified Roe v. Wade into law – protecting the right to choose no matter what extremist legislators and federal courts do. This is just another instance of Sen. Grassley's lifelong mission to overturn Roe and restrict our reproductive rights.

People like Sen. Grassley, who've tried to control women's health care decisions for decades, have no place in the Senate. We can defeat him, expand our Democratic majority and send a pro-choice woman to the Senate. I need your help to do it. During Sen. Grassley's very first Senate term – nearly four decades ago – he voted in favor of a constitutional amendment to overturn Roe v. Wade, making it clear he believes that "a right to abortion is not secured by this Constitution." He's been on that crusade against our right to choose ever since: pushing for nationwide abortion bans, criminal penalties on doctors and multiple attempts to defund Planned Parenthood. He even voted to let employers refuse to cover contraception on employer-sponsored health plans.

It doesn't stop there. As chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Grassley was instrumental in scheming with Mitch McConnell to steal a Supreme Court seat from President Obama and ramming through anti-choice ideologues like Brett Kavanaugh. Now, Roe v. Wade hangs on by a thread as the conservative-majority court is set to rule on abortion bans.

The difference between us is stark: I’ve consistently fought to protect women’s reproductive rights. Back in 2018, Republicans in Iowa were pushing a ban that would have prohibited women across our state from being able to access abortions after just 6 weeks of pregnancy. I fought tooth and nail to block that ban, as well as their ruthless attempts to defund Iowa’s Planned Parenthood.

My opponent, on the other hand, has made it perfectly clear that he will pick his extremist ideologies over our autonomy, our reproductive rights and our health every single time. Unlike him, I will always defend the right to choose: I've done it in the Iowa State House, I've done it in Congress and I'll do it in the Senate.

With Sen. Grassley facing record-low approval ratings with Iowa voters, NOW is our greatest opportunity to send him packing. So please, if you're with me to defend the right to choose, can you donate $5 before our midnight deadline so we have the resources to defeat Sen.
