Folks,

Last week, I along with millions of others, watched in horror as Putin ordered the Russian military to invade Ukraine.

My heart and prayers go out to all of the Ukrainian people who are victims to Putinโ€™s authoritarian regime, to our Ukrainian-American population here in Michigan, and to the brave Russian civilians who protested their governmentโ€™s unprovoked aggression.

The world is going through a heavy and dark crisis right now, and as a member of Congress, I want to offer you my reassurances that the Russian governmentโ€™s actions will not be tolerated.

I am closely monitoring the situation and fully support President Bidenโ€™s sanctions against Russia until the freedom of Ukrainains prevail.

I admire President Bidenโ€™s position on the world stage and his commitment towards holding Russia accountable. I appreciated hearing from President Biden during last nightโ€™s State of the Union address on the evolving situation and how we move forward.

But for now, we must continue to stand in solidarity with Ukraine and condemn Russiaโ€™s breach of sovereignty. This past weekend, I attended a Stand with Ukraine rally in Warren to show the world that Michigan and the United States believe in peace, freedom, and democracy.

A lot remains uncertain about what happens next, but rest assured accountability will be sought and freedom will win.
