Team,
Last night, President Biden addressed the nation for the first State of the Union of his presidency. He talked about how much we've accomplished in the past year, from passing the American Rescue Plan to the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and the work we have ahead to build a stronger nation for all of us.
There's been substantial progress in getting our economy back on track, but more needs to be done. I support President Biden's plan to strengthen our supply chains and make things here in America. We also need to reduce costs for American families — from health care and housing, to child care, and everyday goods — to truly recover.
President Biden also offered a bipartisan Unity Agenda for our nation. One where we work together across the aisle to beat the opioid epidemic, take on the mental health crisis, support our veterans, and more.
Right here in Washington State, I've seen people from our community come together to foster dialogue, defuse and address sources of conflict, and bridge differences. That's why I joined eight of my Democratic colleagues and nine of my Republican colleagues to introduce the Building Civic Bridges Act to help empower our communities to reduce polarization and build relationships across lines of difference.
As President Biden said, "As hard as these times have been, I am more optimistic about America today than I have been my whole life." By addressing toxic polarization, we can find ways to work together to fight for progress.
I'm ready to get back to work on behalf of the American people, and I believe the Building Civic Bridges Act is a strong step forward. In the spirit of President Biden's State of the Union Address, add your name to become a citizen co-sponsor. It's time to support bringing communities together across our differences to solve the major issues facing our nation >>
It's an honor to serve you,
Derek Kilmer
