The Boston Globe: R.I. To Dump Russian Pension Investments in Response to Ukraine Invasion

The message is clear: Rhode Island stands for democracy and freedom, and we stand with the people of Ukraine.

Today, Seth held an emergency meeting of the State Investment Commission to ask the members for the authority to pull the Rhode Island pension fund out of all Russian stocks and bonds. In a unanimous vote, the Commission agreed. Liquidating these investments will have little impact on the health of the pension plan, but will stand as a clear symbol that we will support our NATO allies and will not tolerate Putin’s senseless violence on innocent people.

Financial markets operate best when there is democracy and rule of law. Seth strongly supports severe economic sanctions against Russia and in Congress, will always stand for democracy and freedom.
