What a difference two years makes.

Joe Biden was sworn into office as a nation in disarray watched on, shocked by the attacks on our democracy, bruised by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing economic harm.

Last night, America watched a President deliver a message that all Americans needed to hear: “This is not about division, it’s about unity.” “We’re going to be ok.” “We can do this.” And that this is “our moment to meet and overcome the challenges of our time.”

Putin’s unprovoked attack is a direct assault on so much that we took for granted – but the global response to this moment is a rallying cry to reclaim our common purpose and values – at home and abroad.

Yes, we must continue to fight to lower everyday costs for the things that matter most: health care, elder care, child care, drugs costs, and energy.

Yes, we must take on the opioid epidemic ravaging communities in Maryland and across the country.

Yes, we must have the courage to stand up to the gun lobby and end the tragic daily loss of life in our communities from the scourge of gun violence.

Yes, we must address the needs of families still struggling to make ends meet, even if it means reducing the giant profit margins of big corporate interests.

And yes, we must stand strong with our allies and the Ukrainian people in the face of the Kremlin’s assault against a peaceful neighbor.

The work before us is as consequential as ever – and our future, and our children’s future, will be shaped by the actions and decisions we take today — and for the next six years — but I cannot do it alone. I need you with me. So what do you say?

Can you please make a $3 contribution to my re-election campaign today? This is an FEC fundraising deadline month, so when it ends we’re legally required to report how much we raise. [[link removed]]

It was refreshing to once again see a president address the nation and talk about our core values. That’s what elections can achieve!

I’m so glad we are in this fight for progress together. Thank you for all that you do.

Onwards,

Chris
