John, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has just upheld the landmark legislation, Act 77, which allows millions of Pennsylvanians to vote safely and securely by no-excuse, vote-by-mail ballots.

Mail-in ballots allow people who work multiple jobs with little day-to-day flexibility to participate in democracy. The Republican-controlled Commonwealth Court’s previous decision to remove the vote by mail option smacked of the judiciary playing politics amid widespread Republican efforts to restrict access to the ballot box. While this ruling makes our work easier, turning out Black, brown, and young voters in 2022 in May and November is an enormous effort. Will you give $15 right now to ensure we continue expanding the electorate?

This is a definitive victory for PA voting rights, but it is a temporary one and only applies to the 2022 elections. Vote-by-mail should be a permanent option for all eligible voters. This work requires putting one foot in front of the other – day-by-day and step-by-step, we are moving Pennsylvania forward.

Mail-in ballots are critical to expanding the electorate – and particularly in communities of color and for young voters who disproportionately have shift jobs where they can’t take off from work one Tuesday in the months of May and November.

John, would you please donate $15 right now so that we can expand the electorate by registering underrepresented, disenfranchised voters of color and young voters?

The New Pennsylvania Project was founded in May 2021 to expand Pennsylvania’s electorate, so it reflects the Commonwealth’s demographically changing population. In the next four years, NPP will engage and empower young residents and those living in under-represented communities of color and immigrant communities. We will register them to vote, provide education about the issues that matter in their neighborhoods, and mobilize people to vote in every election.
