Despite Abbott's best efforts, LGBTQ candidates are still winning.
VICTORY IN TEXAS: VENTON JONES ADVANCES TO A RUNOFF!

John,

I've been on the ground with Spotlight candidate Venton Jones since last week, getting out the vote and ensuring Venton has the support he needs to win. And our hard work is paying off: Venton advanced to the runoff on May 24th!

In fact, 24 LGBTQ candidates WON their elections last night - a historic number and a 33 percent increase from 2020 when 18 candidates won! The rainbow wave is coming to Texas in 2022.

This is huge news for Venton and our candidates - but to win these races, we'll need all hands on deck. Venton is one step closer to becoming one of the first out LGBTQ Black man elected to the Texas legislature - but in Greg Abbott's Texas, it won't be easy. Pitch in today to keep the momentum going and add more pro-equality voices to the Texas House!

Here's Venton and I at work on the campaign trail:

I'm also excited to share that Jolanda Jones also advanced to a runoff! When she wins, Jolanda will be the first Black out LGBTQ woman elected to the Texas legislature. All of our incumbent state legislators -- Jessica González, Mary González, Ann Johnson, Julie Johnson and Erin Zwiener -- sailed through their primaries. And while we're still waiting on results from our Texas judicial races, the results are looking positive!

Today, we have a lot of victories to celebrate. But to continue this win streak in November, we have to be ready to take on Greg Abbott and his legion of bigots. The Texas legislature is working to pass some of the most restrictive anti-LGBTQ legislation in the country, and it won't be easy for our candidates to win in this environment. Will you make a rush donation today to ensure we keep winning?

Thanks for pitching in!
