Team,
When dozens of major corporations vowed to stop funding the members of Congress who voted to overturn the 2020 election, they were taking a brave stance for our democracy.
Sadly, now we know a lot of it was BS.
Over the last year, many corporate PACs went back on their pledge and started donating again to members of the Sedition Caucus. And a recent Politico report found that lobbyists for at least 13 companies — including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon — have been quietly funneling thousands of dollars to these Republicans for months.
The people who sided with insurrectionists deserve to be sidelined in our politics, not rewarded for their behavior. This team is taking on the most vulnerable members of the Sedition Caucus this fall, and we don’t have Big Tech or their lobbyists funding us — will you chip in to help defeat these Republicans at the ballot box?
The way these corporations are trying to hide what they’re doing behind their lobbyists tells you everything you need to know. Deep down, they understand that anyone who promoted the Big Lie and showed solidarity with a deadly riot doesn’t deserve their money. Behind the scenes, however, they’re caving to pressure from the Republican leaders downplaying what happened on January 6th.
That’s why I’m fired up to do everything I can to make sure they don’t succeed. And I’m proud of how we’re doing it—throwing out the old playbook that is rooted in nasty TV ads. We’re turning to real voters in these districts who have something to say — our goal is to amplify their voices, because the data shows that they’re the most effective messengers to persuade voters.
There’s a lot at stake in this election, not least of which is the principle that when someone betrays our Constitution, they deserve to lose political power. We can’t beat every Republican who violated their oath of office last year, but we can send a strong message by defeating some of the worst.
Let’s take on and defeat Ron Johnson in Wisconsin, Lauren Boebert in Colorado, and more of their friends in the Sedition Caucus — if you can, make a donation to help fund this work today.
Thank you,
Amy
