Protect Private Economic Freedoms From Political Persecution

In the popular dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale,” by Canadian author Margaret Atwood, the fictional authoritarian government begins its reign of terror by cutting off women’s access to money and to the financial system generally. We have now witnessed the real-life assertion of such terror in Canada. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act and the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) to suppress protests by Canadian truckers who objected to government COVID-19 mandates. Referring to the truckers as a “fringe minority” with “unacceptable views,” Trudeau invoked war powers against his own populace. Read more.

Americans are facing higher prices on nearly everything they use from food to common household products. Instead of looking for solutions, Democrats are about to make things worse by banning a class of chemicals used in manufacturing that make products better and cheaper. In a hunt for a quick fix, Democrat legislators are moving toward a complete PFAS ban, which would outlaw a diverse group of more than 4,000 chemicals, regardless of their individual risks, benefits, and availability of reliable substitutes. Read more.

Open any women’s fashion magazine, turn on a daytime talk show, or enter any classroom with a “women’s studies” theme, and you are guaranteed to be steeped in a dogmatic progressive worldview. Women may generally favor the Democratic Party, but as that party lurches leftward, it’s increasingly obvious that the Democratic Party isn’t terribly interested in women.
