VAYD Annual Convention

Dear Virginia Young Democrats,

I hereby call members of the Virginia Young Democrats to assemble in the annual Convention for the purpose of electing officers; considering charter applications, resolutions and other business as the Convention directs.

VAYD's convention will be hosted in the City of Alexandria during the weekend of April 8th to 10th, 2022. Our business will be conducted at The Westin Alexandria Old Town and virtually for the purposes of including Young Democrats across our great Commonwealth.

We are conducting this convention in a hybrid manner with a combination of virtual and in-person to ensure the health and safety of our members and our communities during the ongoing pandemic. Those attending in-person will be expected to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a documented exemption in order to participate. We highly encourage those not vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate virtually in this year's convention.

Additional information about the Convention, including the schedule and registration, can be found on the Convention website ([link removed]) . The deadline to register to attend convention as a delegate is April 1 at 11:59 pm.

We have reserved a hotel block with a special room rate at the Alexandria Westin, the hotel where convention will be taking place. Our VAYD rate is $149 per night. There are limited rooms available and you must book by March 11th to ensure the group rate. Book your room for Virginia Young Democrats Convention. ([link removed])

Chapters can begin submitting their chartering packets here. ([link removed]) The on-time chartering deadline is March 18th. The initial credentials report will be posted March 25th. The official convention committee chairs will be: Mike Hemminger (Arlington) for Rules, Camila Alfonso Meza (Fairfax) for Credentials, Colin Stewart (Alexandria) for Resolutions and Abby Garber (Harrisonburg-Rockingham) for Awards.

DVPA Digital Academy
DPVA is launching our first-ever Digital Academy! This academy is available for everyone regardless of experience level. The modules were created for everyone to follow along. For the Digital Academy, we will cover topics ranging from the Basics of Social Media and Digital Fundraising to How to effectively use ActBlue and Cybersecurity. This program will run through early May. You will have to sign up for each training individually. The registration link(s) will be sent out the week prior to and the week of the training. All recordings will be recorded and will be available for viewing after the training. Each training should last at least 1 hour.

For March, we will be covering Digital 101 and Digital Fundraising Basics. Digital 101 will include a rundown of all things digital and focus on the fundamentals of a digital program. The link to register for this training is here ([link removed]) . Digital 101 will take place on March 9th at 7:00 PM.

Digital Fundraising Basics will cover basic fundraising tips, how to build sustainable programs and how to set up, grow, and strengthen your digital program. The link to register for this training is here ([link removed]) . Digital Fundraising Basics will take place on March 16th at 7:00 PM.

When we get closer to April, we will send out the registration links for that month.
