John,
I just got out of the State of the Union address, and I have
to tell you – I am completely on board with President Biden’s
vision. It’s time we reaffirm our commitment to our country
and to each other.
And while we have our work cut out for us, Democrats
have already been delivering, pulling the country away
from the danger of Trump’s presidency.
Just weeks before President Biden was sworn in at the
U.S. Capitol, his predecessor sent a violent mob to the
exact same place in an attempt to overturn a free and
fair election. Tonight, President Biden returned to the
Capitol and made a compelling case for our future.
Under Democratic leadership, millions of jobs have
been created across the country. We’re going to fuel
the creation of more.
Under Democratic leadership, accountability is
returning to Washington. We’re going to introduce
additional legislation to increase accountability
across all branches of the federal government.
Under Democratic leadership, our roads, bridges,
railways, water infrastructure, and broadband
access are being modernized. We’re going to fight
for more funding for our communities.
Under Democratic leadership, we passed the
COMPETES Act to ensure that American goods
are made in America. We’re going to continue
strengthening our economy by controlling inflation
and lowering costs.
Under Democratic leadership, we’re pushing back
against the advance of far-right ideology in our courts
and appointing exceptional jurists like Ketanji Brown
Jackson. We’re going to continue fighting the
conservative takeover of the judiciary.
Under Democratic leadership, the end of a horrendous
pandemic is finally in sight because we trusted science.
We’re going to keep siding with science on other issues
like climate change.
Under Democratic leadership, America has united the
world to confront and defeat autocracy and
authoritarianism. We’re going to keep fighting to
preserve these values abroad, and at home.
I know we have a long fight ahead of us. But I also know
that our best days lie ahead. I’m in this for the long haul,
and so is President Biden. Together we can build a
better America. But we will need to maintain our
majorities in the House and Senate in order to
accomplish everything we’ve set out to do. Will you make
