How Democrats Avoided a Total Redistricting Nightmare
Eric Holder and his team are pursuing aggressive strategies to combat gerrymandering by the GOP.

It's true, John: Thanks to folks like you we’ve been able to avoid the worst-case scenario for redistricting. But please don't for a second assume our work is done . Below I'll explain how our strategy got us to this point and where we're going next, but first, can you pitch in to help us keep up our critical work?

President Obama: "The fight isn't over yet."

Over the past five years, the NDRC has:

Supported the creation of independent redistricting commissions to ensure that more seats are being drawn by commissions and fewer by politicians.
Helped elect Democratic legislators and governors who are now working to prevent or vetoing manipulated maps.
Engaged the public around the issue of fair redistricting.

And in the current phase of our work, we're doing even more:

The NDRC and our affiliates are supporting voters in suing over gerrymandered maps and defending fair redistricting. MANY courts have already sided with us!
Leading up to the 2022 elections, we're working to hold Republicans accountable for gerrymandering and help elect officials who will work towards fair maps.

So yes, we’ve avoided the worst outcomes. But the truth is that if we let up for even a minute, the GOP will swoop in with their manipulated maps. So I need to ask, John: Will you show your sustained commitment to this movement by pitching in right now?
