John ,

The chemicals known as PFAS are nasty. They’re linked to a long list of negative health consequences including cancer, thyroid problems, hormone disruption, and diabetes.

And, they’re turning up in more and more drinking water supplies – both private and public.

As you read this, the Department of Natural Resources Board is considering a process that will result in state standards for these chemicals in our drinking water, surface waters, and groundwater – a crucial step in protecting ourselves.

The board will make its decision in less than a week. They need to hear that you support this rulemaking process by next Tuesday. Sign onto our letter today and we’ll get it there in time.

Imagine moving back to your hometown, with three kids in tow, to be close to family and back in the community both you and your husband grew up in and love. Then finding out that a local factory knew for years it was contaminating water with dangerous chemicals, and that the water on your property and in your home – that you and your kids have been drinking – is poisoned. That happened to Marinette resident Kayla Furton, who now suffers from thyroid irregularities.

Tell the DNR board to start fixing PFAS pollution.

“No individual, no family, no child should be put at risk through the water they drink or through their environment. I am committed to working for clean water for all – our children, our neighbors, our state deserve at least that,” Kayla says.

Kayla is now a leading voice in the fight against PFAS both personally and through S.O. H2O, a Marinette area advocacy group made up of citizens impacted by PFAS and those who care about clean water in their community.

Join Kayla by signing the letter. It takes just a moment. There are only days left to act. [link removed]

As conservation voters – like you – make progress toward fixing the state’s water quality crisis, big polluters are flexing their considerable resources. They’re trying to stop you. Lobbying groups like Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce and the American Chemical Council care more about profits than kids drinking carcinogens.

Don’t let these polluters sell out your health for their wealth. Sign the letter.
