John, I’m looking forward to President Biden’s first State of the Union address to Congress tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET, and I hope you will tune in.
I’ll be joined tonight by my virtual guest Allison Boettcher, who is the owner of Blue Mountain Coffee House in West Palm Beach.
Allison opened her small business just two months before the pandemic hit the United States, and is one of the millions of American small business owners who benefited from the American Rescue Plan that I proudly helped turn into law last year.
When things were tough, the Paycheck Protection Program and Restaurant Revitalization Fund helped Allison and millions of other small businesses across the country stay safe, pay bills, cover employee salaries, and keep their doors open.
John, President Biden and Democrats are building a better America. Together we have gotten so much done in the last year, and tonight President Biden will discuss these historic accomplishments and the historic challenges that remain ahead of us.
Tonight we will also hear about President Biden’s leadership to unite the free world against Russia’s ongoing assault on Ukrainian sovereignty and security. Like all of you, I have watched in horror as Putin’s unprovoked war against the free and democratic people of Ukraine has escalated to become the greatest threat to global democracy since World War II.
It has been heartening to see the morale and courage of the Ukrainian people as they defend their country and their home, but things could still get so much worse, and we must continue to work in lockstep with our NATO and European Allie’s to defend democracy from tyranny.
John, let us continue working together to strengthen democracy both here at home and across the globe, and let us keep the people of Ukraine in our thoughts.
Always,
Lois
