John, allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Odessa Kelly, and last spring, I announced my candidacy for Congress in Tennessee's 5th district — a progressive stronghold centered in Nashville. But last month, the state legislature passed the new congressional maps, and gerrymandered away our city's voice.
What was once a safe seat for Democrats was split into three, and the people who are running in these newly drawn districts do not represent the city that I know. And we can't let them win.

❌ Mark E. Green is the incumbent in TN-07 — and he's spent the past 3 years defending Donald Trump and the big lie. He even missed votes to attend the CPAC conference.
❌ John Rose currently represents TN-07, and recently co-hosted a fundraiser with QAnon loyalist Marjorie Taylor Greene.
❌ Robby Starbuck, a candidate in TN-05, moved to Tennessee less than a year ago, and is endorsed by Senator Rand Paul, Candace Owens, Charlie Kirk, and Congressman Madison Cawthorn.
❌ Morgan Ortagus, another candidate in TN-05, is Donald Trump's hand-picked candidate.
These people don't understand the issues facing working class folks in Nashville, or anywhere else in the country. And if I know anything about the progressive movement — it's that we can organize and win anywhere.
Nashville's new districts are more competitive than they seem on the surface: they both were 49/49 for Marsha Blackburn and Phil Bredesen in 2018, and with a candidate that knows the area, the people, and the issues — Democrats will win here in 2022.
