This is
outrageous:
Yesterday, on the final day of Black History Month, 188 House Republicans
blocked the CROWN Act, legislation I introduced — in partnership with
Representatives Bonnie Watson Coleman, Barbara Lee, Ilhan Omar and Gwen
Moore — to ban race-based hair discrimination.
I'll make it plain: a vote against the CROWN Act was a vote for
maintaining a racist status quo — period.
Black hair defies gravity. It is strong and beautiful, just like us.
Whether we wear an afro, locs, braids or go bald — our crowns are
glorious, and Republicans’ ignorance and obstruction won't change that or
deter us from the work we are doing to protect Black hair.
This fight is not over. We will continue to advocate and legislate to
ensure that every Black person can wear their hair however they choose
without fearing discrimination. We cannot allow 188 Republican members to
stand in the way of justice for Black people who simply choose to show up
in the world as their full, authentic selves.

work on this legislation is far from over. Can you make an urgent
$3 contribution to help me keep up the pressure and show my
188 Republican colleagues in the House that our communities demand justice
and equity?

With your support, we will keep up this fight.
