You know John, endorsing candidates is a big deal.
But why?
It’s because endorsements can help voters understand the type of candidate they might consider throwing their support behind.
For example, a candidate who’s endorsed by BLM PAC versus a candidate who is endorsed by the National Rifle Association (big
yikes) are obviously very different, and have political priorities that vary. A person endorsed by the NRA is probably a candidate heavily influenced by the gun industry, therefore, not a candidate you’d trust to take legislative action on gun safety reform.
But have no fear John – because a candidate who’s endorsed by BLM PAC is one who believes in the liberation of Black people. A part of that means a dedication to addressing senseless gun violence in our communities, rather than being beholden to the gun industry via the NRA.
We saw what happened in 2016 when we didn’t work hard enough, and we can’t let it happen again. This year, we have a chance to meet the moment of progressivism and help elect community leaders invested in Black lives and Black futures.
